Happy Wednesday Scrappers & Crafters...you know that this means..yup another weekly challenge from The Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog.
I have to tell you this weeks challenge is a great one and I was really excited to make my card. In addition to creating a birthday card the twist is that you need to use resist embossing. Now for those of you who don't know what that is or how to do it...you can easily find tutorials on You Tube. I had planned on making one of my own for this posting but ran out of time this weekend...but watch out for some upcoming tutorial videos I am working on : )
Here is my take on this weeks challenge.........
This is the first time I have used resist embossing on a card..I normally do this on my LO's but I love how it turned out.
I used the Fiskars Elegant Vine stamp & some Perfect Medium by Ranger. After stamping the image sprinkled some clear embossing powder over the stamped image then used my heat tool. After the image cooled down I inked the image with some Tim Holtz Distress Inks...distressed the edges and voila!!
I followed the same steps as above for the butterfly from Studio 112 but this time added some Honeydew twine from The Twinery. I really like how this turned out...such a great technique and looks so cool when you see it in person. The images really pop when you use white card stock as well.
For my stamped sentiment I used a wooden stamp given to me by my MIL...I can't give props to the company as there isn't a name to be found anywhere on it. I ran some vintage pink trim along the bottom edge of the card to sort of soften it up a bit.
I stamped the same butterfly from the front on the inside to carry the theme throughout the card....LOVE this stamp...which I found in the clearance bin at JoAnn's I might add : )
After adding more of the pink trim & Honeydew twine I distressed the edges and used a Tim Holtz staple.

Using the resist embossing technique is such a fun and creative way to jazz up your cards, LO's or any other type of scrappy project you may be working on. You can even use this technique on patterned paper or paper with text on it...just imagine how cool it would look to see those images on your final project.

Happy New Years my craft & scrappy friends : ) Sorry for being "MIA" for the past few days. I've had some family medical issues & with ringing in the New Year & spending time with my family...I haven't been as faithfully blogging as I normally do. I know the holidays can be a super busy time for everyone and I am really excited to start this new year and get back to scrappin & blogging on a regular basis : )
Welcome back for another weekly challenge at Made Especially For You! This weeks challenge fits right in with the spirit of this week...create a New Year's card featuring glitter. You can create this card in any color scheme you want..just as long as there is glitter in the card somewhere.
Here is my DT submission for this weeks challenge.....
I knew I had the perfect paper to use for this challenge once I found out we had to use glitter. The glittery striped paper is from the All Dressed Up stack by DCWV. I admit that I am a DCWV paper stack junkie and I am proud of it :) I have soooo many of their paper stacks & they just came out with some new ones for 2012...can't wait to pick up some more!
The polka-dot glittery ribbon is from Dashes, Dots and Checks. I think I bought this at either Michaels or Joann's, it's been awhile since I purchased this.
I tied some Charcoal black/white twine around the 2012, the C & on the inside of the card~that pic is coming up~you can find this twine at The Twinery.
The glitter letter & number stickers are from Making Memories, Shimmer Alpha. I have to confess that I can't recall where the large chipboard C is from...I don't typically keep my chipboard letters in their original packaging. I used some QuickSilver pigment ink from Color Box Cat Eye inks after distressing the edges of the card stock.
I used more of the striped glitter paper on the inside and tied some of the Charcoal black/white twine to carry the look from the front to the inside.
And one last look of my glittery New Year's card...........
