Holiday Mantle

Hey everyone..welcome back for another scrappy post. It snowed here last night..yay. This is quite the occasion for my neck of the woods as we mostly get rain here in my part of Oregon. I'm so hoping we get some more and possibly have some for Christmas : )

My project I'm sharing with you today is one I created for the Scor-pal DT Blog Week with Core'dinations. You can read the post & tutorial HERE.

I have to tell you this was such a fun project to design and create. I've never made such an architectural piece before and it was quite a challenge for me at first, but here's what I came up with........

This is made from nothing but Core'dinations card stock and Scor-tape : )

Some frosted greenery I had layed perfectly over the mantle. I added some vintage jingle bells for a simple holiday touch. The wreath is from a May Arts project...you can see the post on their blog HERE.

I forgot to take a photo but I have this sitting in my built in bookcase next to my real life mantle...it looks so nice displayed there. I'll try to remember to take a photo tonight and add it to this post. I have the small tree, that's shown in the May Arts post, next to it and it looks really cool.

Well..that's it for now. I have another project coming up this week with Scor-pal and Fancy Pants (it will be posted this Wednesday the 19th)..it's another holiday project so be sure to come back and check it out. I'll have a sneek peek for you later today in another post : )

Happy Craftin!!

You're The Best

Hi everyone...welcome back for another scrappy post! Today I'm sharing a card that was super quick and easy to make. Sometimes it's nice to have projects like this, especially when your short on time like I've been this past couple of weeks : )

I used a variety of scrappy items from 3 Girl Jam, Halloween Harvest Crinkle Ribbon, Vintage Buttons, Twine and their newly released Burlap!!

You've seen me post several projects on here before where I've used burlap but I have to tell you this is the best one I've used so far. I ran a piece through my Vagabond using the Tattered Florals die from Tim Holtz. Normally the edges fray off no matter how careful I am when I take it off the die or they fall apart while I'm putting them on the project...not this time. I was even able to ink the edges and they stayed intact. I will most definitely be ordering more of this burlap!!

Here's a closer look at the flowers.....

I topped it off with a vintage button & twine from 3GJ.

There's some of that yummy Halloween Harvest crinkle ribbon. I ran a piece of through another 3GJ vintage button...love this stuff!!

Here's a sneaky peek at the inside : )

You know me...I like to carry the theme/colors from the front into the inside of the card. I used the small scraps of burlap left from the flowers I cut and added it in the corner of the card.

I didn't make this card for anyone particular in mind, I just like to have a stash of cards for all kinds of occasions on hand as you never know when you'll need one to brighten someone's day.

It's my turn to post over at 3 Girl Jam so be sure to stop by their blog and check out my project over there and more importantly to stop by the 3GJ store and check out all of the wonderful scrappy items they have for sale.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out another scrappy post. Be sure to come back tomorrow, we're having a Blog Hop (3GJ) with Pretty Paper Ribbons. You won't want to miss it!!

Happy Scrappin : )

May Arts July Silk Ribbon Challenge Project & Video

Hey everyone...after being down for a week since having surgery last Monday I'm starting to feel well enough to sit up and do a much needed blog post : )

First I want to thank everyone for all the kinds comments & well wishes...I so appreciated each and every one : )

Now I have something really exciting to share with you today. I was one of the 25 lucky crafters to be selected by Bethney with May Arts to create & play with her selection of silk ribbon. The process was to send Bethney an email with your project idea and how you would incorporate the selected silk ribbons in a craft item. She liked mine (yay) and sent me 8 yards of yummy ribbon lovlieness. You can read all about the challenge & see the entries HERE.

Without further ado...here's my project....a vintage powder puff box with a mini (be prepared for quite a few pics)

I altered a round wood candy box into a vintage powder puff box & created a mini to go inside. The photos below will not only show you the box itself but also each page of the mini I created...please sit back & enjoy : )

I have to tell you that as soon as I saw the silk ribbon selection Bethney posted on the May Arts blog, I knew instantly this is what I wanted design & create using that yummy ribbon. I seriously had a lot of fun creating this project. I love taking an item that had another purpose & create something else with it that others can enjoy.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my video and project. It was truly an honor for me to have the opportunity to create & play with some FAB May Arts ribbon.

Be sure to come back for another scrappy post...tomorrow is my first post with 3 Girl Jam and I'm really excited about it : )

Happy Scrappin!!
