A Girl Is~Mixed Media Tag for Linnie Blooms

Hi Friends! Today I'm back with another fun DT project to share with all of you. This time I created a cool teenage-themed mixed media tag using some of the canvas flower pieces from the BLOOM collection.

I also have a video that shows you the tag up close along with a short tutorial on how I altered the bloom canvas pieces & used them as the skirt for my Prima Doll Stamp....

I really wanted to create something different with the bloom pieces and use them in a different application other than a flower. I knew I wanted to have some sort of texture/image on the canvas so I used some Archival Jet Black ink and used one of my background stamps...
Next I used some spray that I watered down a bit with some water on the canvas pieces (please note that I didn't cut the flowers in half until after they were sprayed)....
I used my TH Tiny Attacher to create pleats on each end of the flower piece I was using. This created a draped and skirt like effect with the pieces. I just made the pleats go in a little further with each layer to create that ruffled skirt look...
Once that final step was complete, I just began layering all the elements on my tag. Super easy :)

I just love how the skirt came out using the Bloom canvas pieces. Such a fun project that really is quick to create. Be sure to head over to the Linnie Blooms store and pick up some fun canvas pieces to use on your mixed media & other crafty projects.

Happy Crafting!!!

My Create*Craft*Share You Tube Hop Project & Video

Hi Friends! Yesterday we had the Create*Craft*Share You Tube hop and I wanted to share some photos of my project along with the videos I made. I hope you all joined in on the hop but if you didn't, you can start at the beginning HERE and see all of the FAB projects from all the participants.

For my project I made a mixed media canvas that is going on the wall in my living room....

Here's the YT Hop video....
 And here's the process/tutorial video....
Our theme for this months project was to create something showcasing our word of the year or a word/phrase that means something to us. I did a video earlier this year explaining why I chose the word "Gratitude" but I also want to use the word Blessed. You can see the video HERE which explains the story behind my word(s) for this year.

I asked for family photos for Mother's Day this year so I was really excited to use some of those photos for this project...

I had a ton of fun using different sprays on the banana leaf paper (I mention/show this in the video) and I love how it looks like aged thin wood on the canvas.

I am truly blessed to be the mom of these two amazing kids and wife to my hubby. I so proud to call them my own : )

Leave me a comment if you have any questions on how I created this project or if you liked it.

Thanks for stopping by and for checking out another scrappy post.

Happy Crafting : )

Inspiration Art Journal Page One: Inspire

Hi Friends. I have been so excited to share this new venture I've started with all of you. I finally bit the bullet and decided to start my Inspiration Art Journal! I've been wanting to work on one of these for quite some time and I just decided I'm going to do it.

I'm going to document my process for each page of the journal via a blog post and video. Sometimes I'll have bits of me working on the project in the video and sometimes it will just the end result but I will always do an intro explaining my thought process for the upcoming page I'm working on. I mention this in the first few minutes of the video below, but just to recap, I plan on working on this when the mood hits me or when I need a "break" from working on DT projects (which I LOVE btw), my own projects or those from some clients of mine. I want to be able to have total creative freedom when I'm working on this journal and this is such an exciting outlet for me : )

So enough chatter...let me share Page One with all of you : )

Here's the video that documents and walks you through the creative process for this first page, I also show you some of the techniques I used as well...

Here are some more photos of the journal up close...

I am in total love with this page...the purples, the textures and all the different elements really turned out well I think.

I hope you will all enjoy going on this new creative journey with me and will check back when I have more pages to share.

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy crafting : )

ClearSnap and Scor-pal You and Me Canvas

Hi Friends! I'll be sharing a special project to with all of you that was up on the Scor-pal Blog using some products from ClearSnap and Scor-pal. The reason this project is so special is because it's a mixed media canvas of my beautiful daughter Kaley and I.

Products used:
ClearSnap Pearlized Accent Ink
ClearSnap Smooch Spritz Pink Sprinkles

Here are the products and items I selected to use for this project...

For my first layer on the canvas..I used some of the Guava spray to create a "frame" around where I was going to place my photo strip...
While that was drying I started in on my letters. I used the Smooch Glitz Sparkle in pink on the You and Me letters and used some of the Smooch Pearlized Accent ink in Gold on the & symbol...
I wanted to add some additional texture to the canvas so I mixed together some Gesso and some of the Smooch Spritz Pink Sprinkles and painted that over some texture tape that I added to the lower left hand corner of the canvas. I have a photo of this at the end of the post...
I set the canvas aside to dry and started working on my vellum rosette and accent strip that I wanted to add to the canvas. I took a 1 1/2" strip of vellum and made a score mark at every 1/2". I then folded along the score lines, cut out a circle from another piece of vellum..added some Score-tape to the circle and created a rosette...
I didn't take a photo of this but I used another 1 1/2" strip of vellum and made a score mark at every 1/4" to create a texture strip that I used as an accent peeking out from the right hand side of my photo strip.

Once the inks and sprays were dry I placed my letters on the canvas and used more Scor-tape to adhere everything to the canvas including my photo strip...
For the rest of the project I simply started layering my flowers, papers and vellum pieces on the canvas. For added texture I took a black stamp pad in addition to the ClearSnap Guava ink pad and randomly stamped background images all over the canvas. I have to say I was sort of addicted to the Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in Gold...I used it for additional texture throughout the canvas as well. I love these products...they go on so smoothly.

Here are some photos of my completed canvas..
I had so much fun creating this canvas and I was able to use some of the ClearSnap prodcuts I haven't tried before. I love how this turned out and my daughter already has it hung on the wall in her bedroom.

I hope I was able to inspire you to use some of the amazing ClearSnap products in a mixed media canvas and with some other craft mediums along with your Scor-pal and Score-tape...two of my must have craft items.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and for checking out another ScrappinAbby project.

Happy Craftin!!

3 GJ Mixed Media Canvas

Hi Friends!! Welcome back for another scrappy post. Today I'll be sharing a mixed media canvas that I created for one of my friends which also happens to be my DT project for 3 Girl Jam.

Here's how it turned out.....
I used the Aqua Splash, Tuxedo and Daffodil Crinkle Ribbons from 3GJ. I think they work so well together on this canvas don't you?

I also have a short video that shows you the canvas up close as well as the stamps, paper collections and other techniques I used to create this.

Here are some additional photos....
I used a mix of 3 different sizes of canvas to create some dimension and photo space on the 8x10 canvas. You can also see the sweet flowers I made with the 3GJ crinkle ribbon. I love 3 Girl Jam crinkle ribbon...it adds so much to your projects...it really does.

I wanted to get a photo of Alisha with the canvas when I gave it to her at work on Monday but alas I forgot..lol. I can tell you though she seemed to really like it and that's what really matters.

Be sure to stop by the 3GJ shop and pick yourself up some yummy crinkle ribbon goodness if you haven't snatched some up already.

Thanks for stopping by and for checking out another scrappy post.
