Mothers Day Tea Cups

Hi Friends! This is Abby with ScrappinAbby and I am thrilled to be sharing another Scor-pal project with you using the gorgeous DianeLexington paper collections from SEI!

I knew right away what I wanted to create once I saw the beautiful floral papers in the two collections I received, Mothers Day Tea Cups. I have 4 Sisters-in-Law so I made one cup for each of them and one for my Mother-in-Law which I'll give to them at our Mothers Day brunch.

Products used:
Doily Die
Pearl trim
Tulle
Lace
Flowers
Additional embellishments-Please see complete list at the end of this post

For the basic construction of the cups, I cut my selected card stock to 9 x 5 1/2

Then I scored each piece of paper at the 1" mark until I reached 8"
After rotating the paper, I made one last score at 1 1/4"
Next I made a small cut up to the 1 1/4" score line for each of the 1" score marks I made at the beginning. I also cut off the last 1" tab that's left and made a flap by cutting off the corners of the last 1" strip
Here's a video I made that walks you through this step as well as the construction of the handle. The cup portion is at the 3:32 mark and the handle is at 12:16 : )

Next I applied some Scor-tape to the flap
I used the 1/8" Scor-tape for the flaps on the bottom side of the cup
You'll do this step on 4 of your flaps and fold them down accordingly
For the handle I used a doily die with the same card stock I used for the cup
The next few photos show you how I cut the handle portion, adhered it together and attached it to the cup
I wanted to add an additional decorative element to the cup so I used more Scor-tape around the base and added some Lavish Lace trims
For the last construction step I used the 1" & 1/4" Scor-tape to adhere the cup to the "saucer" I made with another die cut doily from the paper and some chipboard
I used a variety of flowers, laces and pearl trims to embellish the cups and personalize them a bit. Here's one last photo before I added all of those items
And here are a few additional photos of the completed Tea Cups
There are some amazing prizes up for grabs from both SEI and Scor-pal so you'll want to be sure and check out the Scor-pal blog for all the details.

I hope my project has inspired you to pull our your Scor-pal and Scor-tape so you can work with some of the gorgeous papers from SEI and create your own dimensional projects that you can use as gifts or to keep for yourself.  Thanks for stopping and checking out another scrappy post and another Scor-pal DT Project!!

Perfect Sentiments Challenge 18: Inspired with Love

Welcome back friends...it's Wednesday so you know what that means...another weekly challenge with The Perfect Sentiment Challenge Blog.

This week's challenge is to create a card with a sentiment that lets someone know that you "love them". The twist is to use the picture~which I will show you in a little bit~as inspiration to create your card.

Here is my take on this weeks inspiration photo...
And here's the inspiration photo...which I think is just beautiful....
This looks like such a romantic & peaceful patio to me~you can click on the image to make it bigger~it's easy to be inspired to create after looking at this photo. There are two items in this photo that really jumped out at me when I first looked at it...the soft pink flowers in the foreground and the brick. These were the jumping off point for my design.
I picked up these gorgeous flowers from a local furniture store of all places...you just never know where you will find something to create & scrap with...although I did find myself wanting some new furniture after being in there..but I digress :)
I paired the flowers and petals with some soft fabric lace.
For the other part of my inspiration for this card...I created my version of the brick patio by running some card stock through my Tim Holtz Brick embossing folder..I rubbed some Spun Sugar Distress Ink over the entire piece then came back in with the Festive Berries DI to create a little more definition around some of the bricks.
The sentiment is from the SEI Jolie Chocolate rub-on set. I wrapped some soft green striped ribbon around the the card stock & topped it off with a staple.
Here's another look at that yummy fabric lace...love it!!! I snatched this up in a bag of vintage trims..love those kinds of treasures when I am out junkin with my girlfriend Andrea : )

And now for the inside.......
As with all of my cards I like to carry the front to the inside...so I fussy cut the brick embossed card stock as my mat.
These were sort of a last minute addition...the card just seemed to have too much white space for my taste.

Here's one last look....

Now are you ready to be blown away by the beautiful cards created by my fellow DT members??? Well just click on their names and you will see what they came up with for this weeks challenge....
