We Have A Winner!!!!

Hey everyone...before I get to the winner for my giveaway..I want to say THANK YOU to all of you. I can't believe it's been just over a year since I started my online crafting journey. I had no idea 17 years ago when I started scrapbooking that I would meet some of the most amazing and uber talented women (and men) online like I have and connect with some who live in other countries...who knew!!!

I started my blog to share my love of paper crafting with others who have the same passion as I do so I mean this sincerely when I say that I truly appreciate each and every one of you that follow my blog...whether you signed up to follow me or if you just like to peruse my blog when you can from the sidelines...that's ok too. Like I said in my original post on my 1 year anniversary..it's not about having the most number of followers for me..it's about meeting other creative people and sharing ideas and laughing along the way.

So now that my academy speech is over with..lol...let's see who the lucky crafter is that will win this HUGE lot of scrappy goodness............

And the winner is...(who was randomly drawn with my high tech method of having my daughter pick a number between 1-100 haha) drum roll please.....

Guest Designer:Sweet Pink Layout : )

Hey everyone...I'm really exicted to have another post all about my "mini me"...yup I'm talking about my beautiful daughter Kaley : )

She and I were hanging out in my craft room this past weekend and she created the LO below......

She designed this LO all on her own...I think it turned out AWESOME!!!

Gotta love the bling!!

She loves to use Distress Ink just like her momma : ) I thought adding the pink clip was pretty creative as she told me she will hang this from her wall using the clip & and a cute tack.

Cute!!

She turned a small coin envelope into a pocket to hold the journaling tag she made.

Must be a mother's love if I let her get into my twine stash..haha : )

I tried getting a photo of her while she was crafting but she wouldn't let me...she's turning 13 in September so she must look her best if I put her on my blog..haha and we were crafting in our loungy clothes : )

I know this is a short post but I wanted to share the LO Kaley made...I love that she loves to craft and love it even more that she wants to craft with me. Creates such special memories & it's a wonderful time to bond with my baby girl who is growing up so fast.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back for another scrappy post : )

PSC42:Christmas in July

What??? A Christmas card in mid July??? Yup...that's right. Over at The Perfect Sentiment we are having a Christmas in July card challenge : )

I know some of you live in states where the heat is just scorching & miserably hot so maybe looking at some Christmas themed cards will help give you a "virtual" break from the heat and bring on some cool thoughts : )

The challenge is to create a card with a sentiment for Christmas/Season's Greeting's/Hannukah. The twist is to use some border punches on your creation & make sure your sentiment is on the FRONT of the card where we can see it : )

Here's my take on this week's challenge......

I wanted to mix it up a bit and not use the traditional red/green colors. So I paired up some deep red CS with some blues & browns for this card & really like how they look together.

For my border punch I used the Martha Stewart large snowflake. I really like the detail on this punch & how it turned out on the TH distress CS.

I used a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder on the same CS..topped it off with a sentiment from K & Company's Tidings of Comfort & Joy collection & some yummy Maraschino twine from The Twinery.

Some cute felt poinsettias topped with more twine in Denim.

Really love how this card turned out...mostly due to the CS color combos I selected. I'll be making more holiday cards & projects using these colors for sure!!

Now for some inspiration from my fellow DT members.....

The Play Date Cafe PDCC141:Live Laugh Love

Hey everyone...I'm super excited to share another creation I've come up with for the weekly challenge at The Play Date Cafe. It's always exciting to see what color story the PDC DT comes up with.

First my card...then I'll share the color story with you...........

And now for the color story that inspired this project.........

For me it wasn't only the colors that inspired this card but the books pictured as well. I wanted to create something that played off that stack of vintage books. So I took an old office file folder & cut it down to the card size you see here...

I creased where the bottom portion of the folder was already scored & sealed it with some adhesive. This formed a "book" sort of opening to the front of the card.

Love this crocheted soft pink flower & the soft turqouise resin flower just fits perfectly!

I love using vintage items in my projects so I used an old library checkout card & plastic sleeve on the front to hold my sentiment. You can easily pull the library card tag out & slip in a gift card or a personalized note on the backside if you wanted.

Here's a closer view of the plastic checkout sleeve I used to hold the library checkout card. I like how this can not only be used as a sleeve but that it's clear so you can see the yummy twine from The Twinery!

Here you can see the "book" opening I mentioned above. I didn't want to just use the folder as it was....it's more interesting this way I think : )

Doesn't everything look better with twine???

Thanks for stopping by & don't forget to come back for another scrappy post. I'll be showing you a LO my daughter Kaley designed & created all on her own..proud momma moment..haha.

Happy Birthday!!

No it's not my birthday...thank goodness. I'm turning the big 40 this year & I'm not too thrilled about that!!  Just something about leaving my 30's really bugs me but I digress : )

Today I want to share a card I made for a friend of mine for her daughter. She wanted to have me create something with her daughter's favorite colors and animal print so she would have something special to give her on her birthday.

This was a fun card to make. I don't typically create with zebra patterned ribbon & I really like how this turned out. The ribbon was the inspiration for this whole card as that is Holly's favorite design. She also loves pink and her mom put together an amazing pink candy themed birthday party that any little girl would love...heck I would love it..but mine would have to be purple of course ; )

I love creating personalized crafty projects. The Celebration Stack from DCWV was the perfect choice for this card. The colors in the stack work so well with the zebra print ribbon. I used some awesome twine from The Twinery to string up the banner & to accent around the ribbon "bow".

I saw the photo of Holly's face when she opened this card & it was priceless!! That right there is the Number 1 reason why I love craft & create...it's too see the look of happiness & delight on the recipeints face when they receive a hand crafted gift. I know I truly appreciate and cherish all of the handmade/crafted items I receive from my family & friends : )

Thanks for stopping by my blog...don't forget about the giveaway I still have going..all of the details are posted at the top of my blog.

Be sure to come for another scrappy post : )

PSC41:Anything Goes-Altered Frame

*To check out my post on the 2012 Where Bloggers Create...click HERE*

It's Wednesday so that means it's time for another FAB challenge with The Perfect Sentiment! I LOVE it when the "Anthing Goes" challenge rolls around and that's what it's all about this week.

I have this old frame I picked up on one of my junkin trips...you know the kind..oval with some scrolly stuff that is plastic painted in a 1970's gold. Well I grabbed it because I knew what it could become once it entered my craft room : )

I was pretty happy with how this turned out. I simply spray painted the frame..measured some corkboard to fit & scrapped it up :)

I had some leftover scraps of corkboard that I didn't want to toss so I thought hey..why not use them for my sentiments.

Simple & sweet butterfly with some bling...

Lovin this butterfly stamp I bought online a few weeks ago. This stamp was my inspiration for this piece.

Flower/ribbon/lace cluster...much love!!

Some lovely twine from The Twinery!!

I already have this hanging in my craft room & it reminds me of what I love to do...create : )

I want to start this post off by thanking all of my new followers I've had sign up this past weekend. I truly appreciate all of the sweet comments you've left me : )

Today I'll be sharing a super cute tag I made for the latest challenge at The Play Date Cafe. It's no secret I'm a lover of purple but I am really lovin the colors they had for us this week. First let me show you what I created then I'll share the color story with you....

And now for the color story...

Love the TH/Ranger Core'dinations CS..so easy to distress & adds a weathered look to the tag.

FAB vintage bike charm I picked up from a new (to me) shop on Etsy Discount Charms. This is owned by Drew Scott, he's 16 AND designs for Prima. You should really check out his store...pretty amazing charms & other scrappy goodies.

Love Love Love this Prima flower & lace trim! I added some Sunflower ink to the fabric flower just to make it pop a bit off the tag. And of course you see some lovely Buttercream & Caribbean twine from The Twinery.

Lovin this tag : )
