Today I have a special project to share that I made for my daughter, Kaley. Her birthday is coming up in a few weeks and she'll officially become a teenager...yikes...how did that happen??? She starts 7th grade today and I wanted to make something that she could use to write down memories, have friends sign & to hold photos...sort of give her something to look back on.
Before I post the photos I wanted to also let you know that I have a short video that gives you more detail of the actual project. I recorded this late last night while the kids/hubby were sleeping so no laughing ; )
This is kind of my version of a Smash Journal. I mostly used office supply items along with some bling & other scrappy items. She loves black & pink...there's also a little bit of green in there too as it's also one of her faves. I won't go into too much detail of each page since I have the video below.
I used some of the ring binders you would find at an office supply store to hold the journal together. The base of the journal is made from recycled manilla file folders.
Wood letters...cool huh?
Love the chunkiness of this journal!!
Here's my video..........
I cannot wait to see her face when she opens this on her birthday...she does check my blog but I'm hoping she won't see this post since she'll be busy with school & volleyball. So for all my real life friends who read my blog...don't say anything to Kaley about this until after her birthday : )
I will have a supply list below but since I used a ton & I mean a ton of office & scrappy items I can't remember each one so it will mostly be the stuff I remember.
I'm also entering this in the current Office Supply challenge at Frosted Designs.
Thanks for stopping by & for letting me share one of Kaley's birthday gifts I'm making for her.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for another scrappy post...I'll be showing you an altered clipboard project.
Happy Scrappin!!

ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful and such a good use of office and scrapping supplies. I would have LOVED one of these from my mom, and I am sure your daughter will be thrilled with it. Where did you get the rings you used to hold all the pages together, I know you used silver rings and then tied ribbon and twine, but I don't know where to find the rings. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Maureen
Hi Maureen..so sorry for just now replying. These office rings are from Staples..you should be able to find them in any office supply store or in Walmart/Target type place in their office supply area. Let me know if you found some : )
DeleteAbby this is gorgeous!! Your daughter is going to LOVE this!
