Welcome back for another amazing challenge from the Perfect Sentiments Challenge Blog which just happens to also fall on my birthday : )
This weeks challenge was to create a card with a Thanksgiving sentiment and the twist was to use brads and/or eyelets. Before I get to my card for this weeks challenge I want to give a shout out for my fellow DT member Stacey over at Stacey's Creative Corner. She is sponsoring this weeks giveaway and let me tell you...it's a good one : )
Now what scrapper/papercrafter wouldn't want the chance to win this paper/stickers & punch-outs paper pad from Colorbok. Thanks Stacey for providing such a fantastic prize for some lucky winner : )
Now on to my card for this weeks challenge...
Creating a Thanksgiving themed card really put me in the mood for the holidays & I can't wait until the family gathers for Thanksgiving this year : )
I put some gold Stickles around the edges of some fabric leaves I had in my stash just to give the leaves some bling...which lead to the 5 jewels on the upper right hand side of the card. I used some gold embossing powder to stamp on my sentiment which I put on some brown card stock with distressed edges.
Here's my Tom the Turkey...he has some real feathers I had leftover from some place cards I made for the family Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. I just thought the feathers added a nice touch to the card. Such detail on some of them...gorgeous I think.
I used 3 gold eyelets for my challenge twist and ran some green fiber through them. I actually inked the fiber since it was a brighter green than I wanted on the card. I used some TH Walnut Stain Distress Ink on the fiber and it turned out exactly as I wanted it to. Yay for Distress Ink!!! I added two more stickled leaves on the bottom and ran a strip of cotton trim on the base of the card. I inked all of the edges on the card and papers~please forgive me as I can't remember the name of the Colorbox ink I used~it's downstairs and I'm too lazy to run down and look...lol besides it's my birthday so I can be lazy right???
Here's the inside of the card....I added another gold eyelet just to continue the theme from the front to the inside.
I stamped a sentiment that to me says it all for not only this time of the year but something we should take with us all year long...Be Grateful. I actually have this written on my calendar so I can see it everyday and I am very grateful for all of the blessings I have in my life.
Now get ready to see some more creative Thanksgiving sentiment cards from my fellow DT members....
